  • Franco Is My Name was fancied to win last time out and surely has more to give under these conditions.  4:50 Lingfield

Alan King's horses are in fine forum and Walkon Looks likely to keep his good run going  3:35 Newbury.

  • With 2 cards that look full of short priced fav's not guaranteed to handle conditions and a poor looking card again at Southwell I am struggling to find any value.

Richard Johnson goes to Wetherby for 3 rides today.

Good For Blue, Pak Jack and River Dragon.

The first is seminally never fancied in its races starting at 25/1, 20/1, 14/1, 33/1 and 50/1 on its last 5 starts but did win a race around this trip and this time of year in 2010.

Freshened up by a 2 month break Pak Jack ran a fair 2nd last time but has not won since 2005.

River Dragon ran yesterday and I can't believe that that will not take its toll if it runs again today.

So on the thinking that Johnson will have at least 1 winner I will back them applying "stop at a winner" tactics.

10 on the first, if it wins stop if it loses 20 on the 2nd etc.

Now onto Southwell and normally this would be a day of fun £1 f/c's and tricasts but in the last Jackie Kiely has caught my eye.

Last time it beat Bright Sparky who went on to win it's next race and run 2nd 3 days later. other than Bring Sweets who improved for the step up in trip and Fastinthestraight who indeed proved to be the last 2 times I can't see much beating Jackie Kiely and 10-1 looks massive to me for an each way bet.

  • With a healthy profit yesterday after a 13/2 winner I an scanning through today's runners looking for a little value.

Bob Bucklers horses are in good form and his 1 runner today Ethiopia will need every yard of the 3 miles in Ludlow's 4:40. Maybe still in need of another race before hitting peak fitness the 20/1 has tempted me to a small each way bet.

For the future Tyup Pompey runs for Ann Price who used to buy bananas off me for her horses. This horse needs good going and wins in April  ;)

A P McCoy won the first race yesterday and it is probably his best chance today too. Brunston in the 2:10

Richard Johnson's best chance of a winner today is odd on, he managed 2 winners yesterday and I so nearly recommended a double...

The all weather tracks look like the normal minefields for finding winners..

  • VAN WYCK for me today in the 3:55 Navan

In-form Neil King is four from 13 at Lingfield with his older handicappers over the last five seasons, returning a bumper £39.50 to £1 level stakes. King has one such runner today, Fashionable Gal in the next.

     Fashionable Gal wins  :)
